Welcome to Claibourne Counseling, an award-winning therapy practice, just a short drive from Moon Valley, the peaceful neighborhood known for its golf course and mountain views. Whether you’re enjoying a round at Moon Valley Country Club or hiking Shaw Butte, we’re just a quick trip down the 7th Street corridor.
We offer individual adult, couples, teen, family, and child therapy for those living in the greater Phoenix area and online counseling services for individuals throughout Arizona. We have multiple suites - our J-building is primarily our children & family-focused therapy suite and our B-building is used more for our individual adult sessions and also for couples counseling and some family work.
We are currently accepting new private-pay patients. If we don't have a therapist to match your specific needs, we're happy to provide you with some trusted referrals. We do not accept insurance, however if your insurance provider allows for out-of-network benefits we can print a superbill that you can submit for reimbursement.
Please reach out today to set up a no-cost, no-obligation phone consultation to see if we are a good fit.

Teletherapy Options For Moon Valley Residents
In the United States, therapists and mental health professionals are required to be licensed in the state where the patient is physically located at the time of service. For example, if you are an Arizona resident but are traveling for work or vacation in California, your therapist is not allowed to provide you therapy until you come back to Arizona – unless they also hold a current counseling license in California. Some therapists do hold licenses in multiple states but it’s not too common, so it’s essential to check the licensing of your therapist to ensure they can legally provide services in the state you’re traveling to should you want to maintain counseling services while you’re away.
FUN FACT! So long as your therapist holds a current license to provide behavioral counseling in the state of Arizona, they may provide teletherapy to you from wherever they are – including overseas! It’s just YOU who needs to physically be in Arizona!

How Much Does Therapy Cost And Do You Take Insurance?
The cost for mental therapy in Arizona varies on the provider and if you make use of insurance.
At Claibourne Counseling, we do not bill insurance directly, we are considered an out-of-network provider. Some insurance companies will reimburse a portion of the sessions if the plan allows – it just depends on what the out-of-network coverage is. We encourage you to call your provider to determine your coverage benefit.
Please see our therapy pricing page for full details. Family and couples therapy costs the same per session as individual therapy. Cash, credit cards, and HSA debit cards are accepted.
We believe mental health care is health care, and that cost should never be a factor in whether or not you or your family receive therapy. If you’re concerned that this may be an issue, please call our office and talk with one of our care coordinators about the many options we have available through our network.
