About Andrea Torres, LCSW
Let’s figure it out together!
I strongly believe in the importance of clients being able to establish a good therapeutic relationship with the right therapist for them. It is my motto to work with you as a team to help you identify the skills and strength to live the happy and healthy life you want. I am happy to meet you where you are at in your journey and provide the support and safety you need.
I’m an English & Spanish-speaking therapist who is also fluent in sign language! I work with teenagers 14+, adults, and couples, both in-person or via telehealth. I am EMDR certified and have provided trauma counseling to individuals for four years. I am also Gottman Method Couples Therapy trained and have been growing my work with couples. You can expect I will use a variety of treatment styles for your individual needs, including CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, as well as DBT skills as I find them to be very helpful for clients and like to provide a variety of tools to use as life events arise. Identifying you may need a little help is the first step; I am just a guide to help you overcome your challenges. I love working with all sorts of individuals and I am proud to provide a judgment-free zone in my office.
Don’t Mess with Texas
I was born and raised in El Paso, TX, which is a border town. In 2014, I received my bachelor’s degree at Texas State University in San Marcos, and from there, made my way to Phoenix where I obtained my Master of Social Work in 2017. I began my career as an LMSW at a recovery center for seriously mentally ill adults and transitioned to the outpatient setting once I got my LCSW in 2020.
Outside the office, I will spend my weekend with a good book, playing soccer and water volleyball. I love staying active, spending time with my friends, and am excited to be getting back into traveling, though I enjoy being at home with my husband and our three cats. My weakness is takis – give me a bag and you make my whole day, but since I am a bit addicted, it is best not to!!
I am excited to work with every client that comes my way and I will always be direct and honest with you about what to expect.
About Kris Browne, LAC
A happier more peaceful version of you lies within.
Assisting individuals in becoming their highest and best Self is a real passion of mine. With a common vision and through the healing process, I believe that anything can be transcended.
I work with adults and couples both in-person and via telehealth. I enjoy using modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt, and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I will walk alongside you to help navigate through issues including depression, anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma. I am passionate about a holistic approach to wellbeing and will work to find solutions that resonate with you.
From One Sunshine State to Another
I was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. From there, I completed my Master’s in Mental Health Counseling at Lindsey Wilson College – graduating with honors and as a member of Chi Sigma Iota. I then moved from Florida to Phoenix so I can explore all this amazing location has to offer while completing my doctoral degree in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Outside of the office, I enjoy staying active with tennis, basketball, and the gym. I am a huge fan of the arts as well as traveling. And of course, spending time with friends and family.
Counseling is not always a linear process, but the results are amazing and I am looking forward to riding the waves with you!

I believe that together we can find the healing that can address the root causes of those challenges. We will move at your pace in order to build trust, understanding and help you reach your unique therapy goals.
I work with adults, couples, and families to help you find healthier ways to communicate, develop a deeper connection to yourself and others, and ultimately to heal wounded parts of your inner world. I have experience using internal family systems, emotionally focused couples and individual therapy, and trauma-informed therapy techniques to help people coping with various challenges. I will walk with you through depression, anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, attachment challenges, LGBTQIA+ related issues, racial injustices, polyamorous and monogamous relationship challenges, finding healthier boundaries, and improving communication and self-esteem. Whatever you’re walking in with, you don’t have to walk through it alone anymore.
Midwest to Southwest
I was born and raised in Michigan where I got my bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Adrian College. I also had the esteemed privilege of being part of a Team USA Synchronized Skating Team for two years while attending Adrian. From there, I completed my Master’s in Social Work at the University of Georgia and eventually made the decision to move out here to Phoenix, Arizona in 2019. With two years of practice under my belt, I feel confident in my ability to help you navigate the challenges you are facing.
Outside of the office, I am a huge film nerd, I go to the movies every weekend. I still enjoy skating, spending time with my pet snake Eerie, playing the ukulele, traveling, going to concerts, and connecting with my friends.
I am excited that you are taking this important step towards the future you have been dreaming of, and I can’t wait to walk with you on that journey.
About Samantha Becerra, MS Intern
Every person is unique and capable.
I believe everyone has the strength and ability to overcome their personal struggles, but sometimes we need a little help learning what those abilities are. I am here to support you during your journey of self-discovery, growth, and positive change.
On my journey as a counselor thus far, I have worked with adults, couples, and adolescents through a Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach. Some of the most common struggles I assist others in overcoming include anxiety, depression, relationship problems, and recovering from trauma.
I appreciate the uniqueness of each and every person and believe your therapy treatment should be unique to you. Together, we will come up with the best game plan that aligns with what you want most in your life.
There’s No Place Like Home
I was born in Phoenix and have lived in Arizona most of my life, except for 3 years in Hawaii. Although it was an amazing experience, there’s just no place like home. Like a true Arizonan, I enjoy hiking and exploring everything Arizona has to offer. I also enjoy traveling to new places, drawing, snorkeling, going to the beach, and having adventures with my family as often as possible.
Ever since I was a little girl, I knew that I wanted to help others and always had the natural ability to genuinely listen and be present. In a world that can feel lonely, I aim to make sure you always feel heard and seen. I look forward to meeting you!
About Natalie Wheeler, LCSW
You’re stronger than you know…
We all have the strength and resilience we need to overcome whatever obstacles life has for us. With over 12 years of experience working with children and families, I am passionate about what I do and truly enjoy showing up for you and your family. I value kindness, understanding, and humor. Sometimes a little laughter can go a long way!
I have extensive training in trauma-informed care and various therapeutic modalities including EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Play Therapy, and Animal Assisted (equine) Therapy. I believe it is important to be flexible in treatment to meet each person where they are and develop an individualized plan to meet your needs.
Born and Raised Phoenician
As a true Arizona lover, I enjoy spending time with my family (including my two pups) and friends, trying out new restaurants around town, and exploring the outdoors with my husband and son. The desert is my happy place!
I am here to walk alongside you on your path to healing, whatever that may look like for you.
I strive to make a difference!
As a graduate student, I am passionate about making positive changes in the lives of others. I work with couples, families, individuals, and I hold a special place in my heart for children and teens. I enjoy helping young individuals feel seen and heard during their formative years – to implement important skills early in life that will strengthen their futures.
I have a soft-natured approach and will reach out with a trusting and inviting warm sense of humor. I believe a good therapist is one who is devoted to their clients’ journeys and improving their overall well-being.
Working with clients on issues related to improving boundaries, self-esteem, relationships, parent/sibling conflicts, and managing anxiety and depression are a few of my areas of focus. Whatever the situation is, I want to ensure every client can find their way to a successful, healthy, and authentic life.
Happy to be back in the Valley of the Sun
I was born in Scottsdale and have just recently moved back from Texas. I love to travel, find new places to eat, and hang out with friends and family. I have a long hair dachshund named Ginger and she is such a cuddle bug.
I am looking forward to providing you with caring counseling in order to create a more fulfilling way of life!
It takes courage to take those first steps…
toward creating change to live a more fulfilled and balanced life, but rest assured you will be met with a warm and empathetic environment to do so. I view therapy as a working relationship built on collaboration, trust, and authenticity.
I have over 9 years of experience working with clients of all ages and have specialized training working with children and young adults. I believe we all hold the qualities to be happy and well-adjusted individuals but at times get stuck and need a little extra support along our journey.
Swapping Snow for Sun
I graduated in 2012 from Westminster College in Salt Lake City, Utah with my Master’s in Professional Counseling. I decided to swap the snow for the sun and moved to Arizona in 2019 and am loving my new home state. In my free time I enjoy golfing, hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family doing just about anything.
I am pleased that you are considering the team at Claibourne Counseling to be a part of your personal journey!
About Claire Karakey, LPC
I’ll be your biggest cheerleader.
You must know this about me… I genuinely care about the people with whom I’m working. During our time together, you are the focus, and you have my undivided attention. I am there to celebrate your successes as well as sit with you during uncomfortable times. I am rooting for ALL of your revelations – even setbacks can be viewed as progress!
Working with both children and adults, I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, chronic pain or illness, grief and loss, and navigating life transitions. I have extensive training in shame and trauma and understand the negative thinking loops they send us on.
Being a therapist and helping others has been a dream since I was 12 years old, sitting on the other side of the couch. Therapy was a gamechanger for me then – and it still is today. I feel that it is beyond essential to help people learn and accept who they are to better connect to themselves and others.
Now that I am a certified supervisor in the state of Arizona, I also love mentoring other counselors to help them flourish and develop their own unique style and specialties. I am honored to lead and support the amazing team of talented therapists we have here at Claibourne Counseling!
I am both a Sun Devil and a Wildcat!
I am a Tucson native and attended the University of Arizona. I explored my love of sports by representing the women’s tennis team and began my career as a special education teacher. As a teacher, I taught functional academics, such as life skills, sportsmanship, social skills, and more. Then I continued to Arizona State University for my Masters of Counseling to pursue my passion for helping people on a more individualized level.
At home, I enjoy music, cooking, watching movies, hosting BBQs, game nights, and spending time with my husband, Chas, and our family and friends. The dog park is my happy place – and Rosie and Hank, my golden retrievers, probably agree! I am also a cat person… Harry and Herbert are my two feline fur babies. And the Bath and Body Works annual sale is a frickin’ holiday for me – I’m obsessed with candles. 😉
I’m human, just like you. I continue to learn daily and work hard to embrace it all!!
Together we can accomplish great things!
