what is the definition of sexuality and sexual identity issues?

Sexuality or Sexual Identity Issues

Our Sexual Identity refers to how an individual thinks about themselves in terms of whom they are sexually attracted to. A heterosexual identity is a pattern of being attracted to people of the opposite sex (aka being straight). Bisexuality is an identity of having an attraction to both males and females, and homosexuality is having an attraction to persons of the same sex. An individual who doesn’t have any sexual attraction or desire identifies as an asexual.

It’s important to note that sexual identity can change throughout an individual’s life – an individual who once identified as straight can have a mindset shift and begin to identify as bisexual or homosexual instead. It’s also important to note that sexual behavior does not necessarily match sexual identity – one may consider themselves straight but occasionally hook up with people of their own gender.

There is a vast array of sexualities – identities, orientations, and behaviors. You can learn more about the different types of sexualities at healthline.com.
